Grand Central Rail Station
Grand Central Rail Station

Birmingham has become one of the most visited cities and is England’s second largest with dynamic diversity and culture. These aspects have propelled the city into an international destination for events, festivals, high quality shopping, award winning restaurants and an active night life. A short stay holiday break here can never be dull. From the comfort of your own serviced apartment get a combination of art, comedy festivals, orchestra, and self prepared cuisine from your kitchenette and read literature from your living room away from home.

While in Birmingham, the new Grand Central station is hard to miss, its an upgrade of the old New Street station it opened its doors in September 2015 after a costly superb refurbishment estimated to be over £100 million . Along with the original Birmingham New Street station, the new mall has an amazing glass atrium roof as a centerpiece that covers a combination of over 60 high quality fashion brand stores, cafes, restaurants and department stores. This has made Birmingham an investment hotspot with its world class status. Being one of the most spectacular places in the city of a thousand trades, Grand Central opens as early as 6.30am and closes at 11pm with most restaurants open until closing time. With 24 hour parking that is charged hourly and close to 500 parking spaces with great security, shopping and having fun at the station is relaxing and convenient.

With facilities like ATM machines, toilets and assistance desks, there would be no occasion for panic. Take a walk around the fashion stores with big entities like John Lewis, Carluccio’s, Nando’s, Tortillas, Square pie, yakinori and many others then take as many photos  and use their free wifi to upload and share your moments.  While you dine beneath the majestic glass canopy explore and enjoy the array of international restaurants infused with authentic tastes of Birmingham, colleague took a trip down here and told me about how close his self catering suite was to the grand central and how easy it was to access the services and supplies to entertain his guests.  Staycity has excellent serviced apartment in the area.  Other serviced apartment companies are  Comfortzone Apartments and City-Nites.

I wouldn’t worry about a thing while in Birmingham with the good English charm, spectacular self catering suites and the array of activities and places to visit. A family trip would be worth it.

Rugby World Cup has a arrived for a Short Stay Again

The IRB Rugby World Cup has arrived on our door step once again. This time 2015 England play host to this famous competition. The first Rugby World Cup was held in 1987, hosted by Australia and New Zealand . Since the first tournament, six others have been held at four-year intervals. The most recent tournament was held in New Zealand in 2011, and was won by the New Zealand All Blacks. Twenty teams for various rugby playing countries will take part.

Most you will recognize as the obvious ones: All Black, France, host nation England and Ireland. But other team not just making up the numbers will also take part. Such teams as Fiji, Samoa, The US Eagles will all certainly be giving of their best. You will also have rugby developing countries such as Japan, Uruguay, Romania, Canada.
The competition is centred on 4 Pools with 5 teams in each pool.

Pool A: Australia, England, Wales, Fiji, Uruguay.
Pool B: South Africa, Samoa, Japan, Scotland, USA.
Pool C: New Zealand, Argentina, Tonga, Georgia, Nambia.
Pool D: France, Ireland, Italy, Canada, Romania

At this stage most of the teams will have had a number of challenge matches . These events give the onerous opportunity to the coaching team to choose their final travelling party. These matches also bring injuries problems. Ireland lost the presence of flanker Tommy O Donnell. He dislocated his hip in a World Cup warm up against Wales.

The Munster player, was taken off on a stretcher in the 75th minute of Ireland’s 35-21 win in Cardiff. He was hoping to play in his first World Cup. A double injury crisis occurred to Wales in their Warm up round against England. Leigh Halfpenny, the full-back and points-kicker ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament. Not only but Rhys Webb sustained ankle ligament damage, and also an injury to his knee.

But it is all part and parcel of the tournament preparation, and risks have to be taken.

The fact that it is being held in London and other parts of the UK will add to the occasion both for players and supporters.

Self catering in Birmingham – What we got ?

Self catering in Birmingham – What we got ?

This is how Goholidaylets journey started for serving self catering Apartments, Cottages, Villas and Holiday Homes in Birmingham.

As a start up business in the field of Holiday Rentals, we had to started searching self catering properties in Birmingham. Initially, we decided to tap the luxury villas and apartments in Portugal, Spain and other Southern European countries only. But as we started getting involved with people through different mediums like Facebook, Pinterest, Google plus and twitter we found that there is a huge demand of short stay rentals and self catering in Birmingham. We talked to many people on different channels and asked people – would the prefer a self catering apartment stay in Birmingham or would they like to rent a 5 star room in a hotel. Initially, the response was more for hotels we were unable to find out the loop holes that how other rental properties were doing a lot of business if most of the people are not interested in renting a self catering apartment in Birmingham.

Then we did an experiment, we showed the pics of apartments and we talked about the benefits that will be provided to them while hiring or renting a short stay self catering apartment, the first reaction of the potential travelers was “wow” – it could be like a dream home from home without any Hotel restrictions , with complete privacy and a freedom to enjoy the complete surroundings and most importantly great value for money because to hotel prices in centre city locations are very expensive. So, from this point things started and we keep on sharing the benefits with people on every platform we met and where ever we go.

Focusing on Birmingham initially as our commercial base this is here. If we look at the last years visitor count in Birmingham it has reached a remarkable number. Visitors to the city are at all-times are high with 33.8 million visiting last year, an increase of 11% over the past six years. However, honestly speaking we do not have the number with us how many of this % of visitors hired or rented self catering apartments. But looking at the numbers, it certainly has increased. From the official visitor website for Birmingham and the region visitbirmingham.com, the numbers are huge for tourists.

Birmingham attracted an additional 740,000 visitors last year according to new figures released by industry research body, Global Tourism Solutions. Visitor numbers rose to 33.5m in 2011, up from 32.8m in 2010. The overall value of the city’s visitor economy is now £4.9bn.

The research, released today by Marketing Birmingham, shows an increase in the number of visitors to the Birmingham area in 2011 – 33.5m tourists visited the city, up 740,000 on the previous year.

The STEAM report, produced annually by Global Tourism Solutions to assess the economic impact of visitors to the UK’s major cities, also revealed that the amount of money spent by visitors to Birmingham last year hit £4.9bn, up 2% on 2010’s total of £4.8bn. This increased spend helped to create an additional 2,126 jobs for the city and surrounding region.

Birmingham’s visitor economy has grown significantly over the last six years with visitor numbers rising by 10% from 30.4m to 33.5m. These figures fuel the sector’s growing economic impact which has also risen by over 10% in the last six years – from £4.47bn in 2006 to £4.93bn in 2011. The strength of the city’s visitor economy has also seen employment in the sector grow by more than 3%.

We never thought when we start this project that we needed to go into such details But they have helped us to plan our strategy on the development of the Birmingham self catering and short stay market. However, while interacting with people over all we have found that Customer Service also plays a major role interaction with people owners and travelers alike. We then discovered that alot of private owners hadn’t the background or the time to marketing their properties properly We then at Goholidaylets.com started to develop a process for owners in an effort to help them portray their properties. We found its not easy for the owners to describe their properties , fill all the details going through multiple forms and registrations. So, we took a step ahead and actually found the problem and provided the proactive customer service to the owners Our technical and marketing team then marketed the property on the internet. So, we do not want any of our property lost in the crowd. We not only find owners with luxury properties but also get the travellers the accommodation of their choice. We found that there was a weakness in advertising the properties on social channels as other channels do not provide the necessary details. They do not want to get involved with the travellers and the owners as well and we are trying fill that gap. This is how we started advertising Self Catering Short stay apartments in Birmingham.
